Distant Relatives

Through resources and information found on the Internet, we have pleasantly stumbled upon and have made contact with other "Distant Budd Relatives". Most of these distant relatives seem to be derived from Clyde Budd's Great Great Grandfather Andrew Budd. It is truly amazing how some of these distant relatives resemble our direct lineage. For instance, see photo at right. Chuck Budd looks a lot like our Joe Allen Budd, but then again, we do share the same Great-Great-Great-Great Grand Father....well, depending which generation you are in. :-)

EMAILS:

Hi Pam,
An e-mail from you was forwarded to me regarding the Budd family. My mother-in-law's maiden name is Budd, and her line came through Southold, N.Y., New Jersey and then into Ohio. How did your Budds get to California? My mother-in-law is descended from one (or probably all) of the John Budds who lived in New York. Her great-grandfather, Amos S. Budd, made the move to Ohio in the 1870s. They lived in Kalida, Ohio, and eventually migrated north to Ashtabula Co., in the town of Jefferson. Would love to trade information with you if you are open to that. Perhaps we can fill out lines on both sides of our Budd line. Look forward to hearing from you.

Other Budds

My great grandfather was Amos Budd and William was my grandfather. My father, Francis Budd, was born in northeastern Ohio in 1904, but there family spent most of their time in Jefferson, Ohio, where I was born and grew up.  There were nine children in my family we are scattered around the east and Midwest pretty well.  We have a family reunion every year in late July for the families of my grandparents. Several nieces have been doing some extensive genealogical work.  You might want to check with Sandra, my sister Frances’s daughter, at sdangelo@angelsystemsinc.com

Chuck Budd's Relatives

Hi Pam,
Thanks for the e-mail. It was great to hear from you. I do have your grandparents in my database, and if I am right, your parents are David Ramsey and Dortha May Budd. Here is how you are related to my wife's line of the family. Clyde Paul Budd's parents (according to my research) were Clark Christian Budd and Emaline Rundio. Clark's parents were William Henry Budd and Sarah Jane (Jenny) Sarber.

One of William's younger brothers was Amos Simeon Budd. That's the line my wife's family. The parents of Amos and William were Andrew Budd and Mary Moncraft. Amos was born in Putnam Co., Ohio, and was married there. In 1870 he lived in Kalida, and by 1880 he had moved to Van Wert Co. In 1900 he had moved to Paulding Co., and in 1910 he had moved his family to DeKalb Co., Indiana (these are all gleaned from census records). The 1930 census had him living in Hillsdale Co., Michigan, and when he died in 1940 he was living in Jackson Co., Michigan.

If you would like to trade information, I would be more than happy to do so. I can send what I have on your family to see if it matches what your mother has put together, and I also can send the line of Amos Budd to the present.
Your parents and aunts and uncles are the same generation as my mother-in-law, who was born in 1939 but had sisters and brothers born between 1924 and 1942. Anyway, thanks for the note, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Bob

Hi Pam,
Thanks for the information and corrections. Some of the information on your cousins, aunts and uncles, I received from a cousin of yours, Debbe Muir-Lechner (daughter of Homer and Virginia Budd Muir). Perhaps you know her? My wife (and my stepson) were interested in the Nick Loren information. My wife said that Nick kinda resembled her grandfather Budd, which I found interesting. Anyway, do keep in touch, and if you have any more questions on what I have compiled, please feel free to ask. The way my genealogy program has it figured, you and my wife are fourth cousins. By the way, do you know where in Indiana your grandparents were married? I look forward to hearing from you again soon.
Bob
